General Information: All applicants interested in serving as a Coach, Team Manager, Volunteer or Student Coach in VYHA must complete and acknowledge this application. By completing this Application, all successful candidates agree to the following requirements, as applicable:

This applies to coaches, team mangers (TM), volunteers and student coaches
(House, Travel, or LTP) that will be on the ice.
TO BE COMPLETED BEFORE PARTICIPATING IN ANY TEAM ACTIVITIES AND ROSTERED:
USA Hockey Registration – Coach, TM, Volunteer, Student Coach
You will need to register as coach through USA Hockey. There is a fee for the Coach membership number, to include Affiliate fee. The cost is free for Team Manager and Volunteer.
This needs to be completed before you step on the ice.

USA Hockey Background Screening – Coach, TM, Volunteer
You will need a background check through USA Hockey conducted through NCSI. Your background check is good for two seasons.

USA Hockey Safesport Training – Coach, TM, Volunteer
You will need to complete USA Hockey’s Safesport training. There is no fee for this. It is completed online and you may stop and start the training at your convenience so it does not have to be completed in one sitting. To be SafeSport certified or are seeking recertification, you will need to complete the three-course SafeSport training.
The SafeSport Training and Refresher Training are an annual requirement for coaches and volunteers.

USA Hockey Age Group-Specific Module – Coach Only
In addition to your CEP, you will also need to complete an on-line age appropriate Module through USA Hockey for each age division you intend to coach.
This needs to be completed PRIOR to participating in team activities. You cannot be added to a roster until completed.

USA Hockey Coaching Certification Course – Coach Only
You will need to obtain your Level 1 CEP (Coaching Education Program) or higher certification depending on your previous status with USA Hockey. There are fees associated with obtaining your CEP – depending on your age group level. Expiration dates vary. Live classes are often out of town, so plan early to complete your certification. UPDATE AS OF 2021-2022 SEASON: Effective in the 2021-22 season, coaching certification at Levels 4 and 5 is valid for three (3) seasons, as indicated by the expiration date found in your Coaching profile. Before the expiration of their level, coaches must accumulate 5 credit hours of continuing education by either taking Level 5, or by attending other USA Hockey continuing education clinics.
